1. Fall Mentoring + Summer Minis

    Happy Wednesday loves!

As promised, today the deets for Fall Mentoring dates are here!

I’m running a bit behind because I was traveling to Chicago earlier today… I’m here now and I’m getting ready for my group session tomorrow!

So about these cities for the fall… I’ve been listening :) Quite a few folks have been asking for Brooklyn and Baton Rouge sessions so I’m coming!! Lol

I’ll actually be in New Orleans instead of Baton Rouge as initially stated because it worked out a little better travel-wise to base in New Orleans so I hope the drive won’t be too bad for my Baton Rouge folks :) If there is enough interest, a second date may be added, but for now, I will be doing one date for mentoring per city and the dates are as follows:

So what are these sessions all about?? You can check out a description here and read a few recaps and mentee testimonials from recent group sessions in AtlantaDCCharlotte, and Little Rock.

I have so much fun with these guys during their session and afterwards since all participants after the session are added to our private Facebook group for ongoing mentoring!

Hear what a couple previous mentees have to say about it:

"Danni made me feel very comfortable with her during our mentoring session, which made me open to ask any question I had. She showed and explained different aspects of photography in such a simple way to grasp. It was truly a great experience! Danielle is very friendly while still maintaining professionalism. I can see that my photography skill has definitely increased since my session! Lastly, I thought it was the best thing ever when Danielle started a mentoring group on Facebook! I can’t thank her enough!"

    -Maryam Roz

"In my opinion the fact that Danielle created the group so that her mentees could continue learning, shows the care she has for her students. The group has been extremely helpful, not only with technical things & refreshers, but also support. Sometimes it’s just nice to know someone else is having your same struggle."

    -Shira Crew

This photo was purely an indulgent post lol. This is one of my new favorite images from my recent DC mentor session this past weekend. We look so cool! Lol

Not to be forgotten in all of this excitement… MINIS!

This Friday is your last day to book a mini session until the Fall! Unless you are a previous client of course, then you can book a mini whenever you want :) There is very limited availability, so please email me ASAP if you’d like to snag one of those spots while you can.

Well that’s it for today! I’m off to take a nap lol.

Every time I go out of town, I never seem to get a full night’s rest before I leave… Procrastinator Extraordinaire lol.

    Have a great day!

  2. Atlanta Group Mentoring [June 6] | Washington, DC Photography Instructor

Last, but certainly not least for today is the first group mentor session in Atlanta!

There was so much interest in Atlanta that we ended up having two group sessions and they both turned out great!

The first session on June 6 ended up being much more intimate than initially planned due to last minute changes with a couple of the other attendees, but I absolutely LOVED this smaller size! So much so that I’ve changed my format for the group sessions to be for groups of 2 to 4 photographers :)

My time with Renee & Nicole was absolutely perfect! For starters, we held the session in the beautiful condo that I rented from Airbnb (Check them out if you don’t know about them! Great alternative to hotels when you travel out of town. There’s also a $25 credit waiting for you at the link :) and the Inman Park neighborhood, where we were, was awesome! Literally everything we needed for a comfortable experience.

It rained just as we were getting ready to break to take their headshots but fortunately our building was beautiful and full of natural light for us to use for photos :)

Here are a few behind the scenes shots along with headshots for each attendee!

"Danielle was always very professional and timely with communication prior to the session.  I was really looking forward to my mentoring session, and it did not disappoint! The size of our group really allowed us to talk openly and have plenty of time for questions and one on one instruction. Shooting in natural light had somewhat intimidated me; however, I felt much more confident after our mentoring session. It was an investment of time and money well spent!"

    -Renee Davis

  3. DC Group Mentoring | Washington, DC Photography Instructor

    Next up today? DC!

This was my third official group mentor session but the first in my own city and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of ladies to work with!

The weather was perfect and we had such a good time! I think the more I do these, the more comfortable I’m becoming as well, so that just makes for a day that flows very nicely! Connie traveled up from Richmond to join us for the session and her bubbly personality was a very welcome addition to the group!

I love the small size of these sessions because it really allows us to get to know one another and enables me to provide assistance individually. These ladies walked away with more confidence in their photography and the skills to bring to life what THEY want instead of just taking with the camera gives them :)

Here are a few behind the scenes shots along with headshots for each attendee!

"I loved the mentor session! It was so refreshing and eye opening. It was like the glue I needed to bring all the various pieces of photography together so that it made sense. I also learned some awesome techniques that I just really never quite thought about. Danielle explained everything so well it sounded simplistic! She was very real and personable which made a huge impact to me. I was not shocked at her level of organization or professionalism because her work spoke for her before I ever met her, so I expected nothing less, but got so much more! I loved networking with other photographers of other levels as well. That’s a great way to connect and continue to learn from others. They will forever be my photography comrades as we develop and enhance our skills so that we all can bring smiles to the lives we touch one click at a time.”

    -Connie McGowan

"I wanted to take the next step and really put myself out there with my photography business. My goals for the session included building on my knowledge of natural light photography, client interaction, location scouting, editing, and overall business practices. Danielle exceeded my expectations and gave her all in sharing her experiences and tips with us. The class never felt rushed and I definitely felt comfortable with asking Danielle any question that popped up in my mind. Her instruction was concise and to the point. This was a great class and would recommend to anyone looking to take their photography to the next level."

    -Lakesha Lewis

"I was a bit nervous, but Danielle and the other mentees put me at ease instantly. Danielle’s materials were thorough and presented well. She answered all of my questions and shared an abundance of valuable information. The investment was well worth it!"

    -Monica Hunt

"Danielle is so awesome. She takes her time to hear your needs and address your concerns thoroughly. I love how she made sure we were fully grasping the techniques, which by the way made photo taking so simple! Seriously, if you don’t learn anything from these sessions, it’s your fault.

It was such a treat working with Danni as she made it a relaxed, and extremely comfortable environment. If you’re weighing your options, go ahead and throw the others put of the window. DFinney is the way to go. What are you waiting for??”

    -Asha Welsh

  4. Charlotte Group Mentoring | Washington, DC Photography Instructor

    Happy Tuesday loves!

Major catching up happening today as I post recaps from my most recent group mentor sessions over the past few months :) I just realized that I hadn’t posted any since my Little Rock recap back in February and I’ve had 5 since then!

So since I’ll be announcing the fall dates tomorrow, I figured we should share the recaps from our recent sessions :)

    First up is Charlotte!

My second official group mentor session was held in Charlotte, NC back in May. This was my first time in Charlotte and I absolutely loved it! What a beautiful city and SO photogenic! Literally everywhere I turned was a great spot for photos :) So our mentor session turned out wonderfully!

I got together with a group of 4 lovely photographers and we had a great day learning how to find the good light, how to achieve the correct exposure each time, and discussing business aspects of their respective photography businesses.

I was so happy to see the fairly immediate change in the quality of their photos from when we started to the end of the session :)

Here are a few behind the scenes photos along with headshots for each attendee!

"Danielle’s mentoring session was clear and concise. I love that she had materials for us and broke the sessions down between basics of digital photography, practice shooting, and editing. Keeping the group small allowed us each to participate and receive without being overwhelmed. The tips and practice with shooting and editing were clear, super simple and they instantly improved my photography. It also was helpful that 2 meals were provided as we had a full 7 hours with Danielle :-) I love that Danielle also encouraged us all to take time to find our ‘own’ style and be consistent. Overall, my time and money were well spent and I could not recommend a better resource for mentoring."

    -Lisa Everette

"My experience with Danielle was far beyond awesome. I traveled from South Carolina to Charlotte and it was well work my travels. I have been trying to shoot with natural light for some time now and struggle with it. After attending Danielle’s mentor session, she has made my life so much easier behind the lens! I have no regrets and look forward to working with her again next year. Thanks again for all the helpful information and your professionalism that you have offered to help me along my journey. "

    -Tanya Waring-Hearn
